Bellevue Wine Estate

Bellevue Wine Estate in the prestigious Stellenbosch wine growing region in South Africa.
It boasts with an original Cape Dutch homestead built in 1803. After careful restoration in 1993, the house has been declared a National Monument. Together with the historical home, there is also a signal cannon which formed part of the important defence system of the original Cape Colony.

Pinotage at Bellevue

Pinotage since 1950...
Pinotage was cultivated by Prof A I Perold around 1945 when he crossed Cinsaut and Pino noir. The first Pinotage plantings made their way onto Bellevue soil in the early 1950’s when P.K. Morkel was attempting to obtain Gamay for planting.
